The five things adults tell us before their first lesson — and what actually happens.
"I'm too old to start."
The oldest student who started with us this year was 68. Adult beginners learn faster than children in almost everything except perfect pitch — you understand rhythm, structure and language, and you chose to be here.
"I have no natural talent."
Talent decides how fast the first month goes. Showing up decides everything after that. We've never had a student who practised consistently and didn't progress.

Neither could anyone on their first day. You'll be playing before you're reading, and reading before you notice you've learned it.

Not the next teacher with a free slot. We match on instrument, on goal, and on whether you want gentle encouragement or someone who'll push you. We'll call within one business day to confirm.

Play in your first lesson
No paperwork session, no theory lecture. You'll have your hands on the instrument in the first ten minutes and something that sounds like music by the end.

Soundproofed private studios, tuned acoustic pianos, and no wall of children's certificates. Free parking on site, and evening slots until 9pm because most of our students come straight from work.

Learning from YouTube
Free, endless, and available at 2am. But nobody corrects your hand position, nothing is sequenced for you, and there's no reason to practise this week rather than next.
Best for: People who already play and want to learn a specific piece.
Group classes
Cheaper per hour, and the room helps if you like company. But the pace belongs to the group, not to you, and adults joining a mixed class usually get taught with a curriculum designed for children.
Best for: Social players with no particular goal.
One-to-one at Karlić
Every minute is spent on your playing. Mistakes get caught in the same lesson they appear, not three months later once they're habits. Costs more per hour and requires showing up.
Best for: Adults with a goal and a deadline, real or self-imposed.
